WHEREAS the federal budget has almost quadrupled over the last twenty years, and
WHEREAS continued borrowing by the federal government places unacceptable burdens on
WHEREAS unrestrained borrowing is approaching the breaking point in lender confidence, and
WHEREAS raising the debt ceiling now would signal the government’s inability to address the financial crisis upon the nation, and
WHEREAS, with a view to future elections, the Republican Party needs to demonstrate the fortitude for responsible leadership, and
WHEREAS the surest way to put a firm cap on spending is to hold the spending ceiling in place, therefore be it
RESOLVED, That Republican House District 39bB calls upon all Republican Congressional Representatives in Minnesota to vote “no” on any proposal to raise the federal debt ceiling.
